The Paul Loves Weezer Project - Song 22 Private Message

Wow!  From the looks of it, Nashville was owned by Weezer this past weekend!

Weezer's Spring Tour is on hold until the end of May.  Check the front page of Weezerpedia.com and Weezertix.com for the details.

Here is the Vyclone video of Perfect Situation from HOB!!!

If you have the opportunity to do this, you should definitely participate!  My shots are from the right side of HOB and include quite a few crowd shots.

For the twenty-second Weezer Song of the Day, I chose Private Message, which was from early album 5 demos that did not make Make Believe.  It's a departure from the sound of Maladroit, which had not even been released when these demos were recorded.

Here is a special treat from the Ryman Theatre Saturday, (nearly) acoustic Susanne:

I've never seen Private Message performed live, because according to Setlist.fm it was only played live once by Weezer in LA in 2002!  Maybe on Weezer Cruise 3.0?

Private Message has a sound remixing Weezer's earlier albums.  I like the full band version much better than the acoustic version.  The guitar moves me, expecially the solo after the final chorus.  The lyrics other than the chorus are okay, but Rivers' delivery of them is fantastic.  I'd love to hear Weezer rock this song out!

This song has quite a bit of potential and Brian even reworked it for The Relationship, but only as a B-side.

I think a gentle re-working of the lyrics and re-recording could result in a finished Weezer song.

Head Bobber!

What do you guys think?

Project Info:
So why did I create this blog?  To document my Weezer Song Project.  Over the next year, I am going to attempt to listen to every...EVERY Weezer song recorded.  All the album tracks and b-sides will be easy, but there are some unreleased songs that may or not be accessible.  Hopefully, the search (and destroy) will be fun to follow.  At the moment, the list has 214 songs!  My list includes You Gave Your Love to me Softly, Longtime SunshineTurn Me Round, Getting Up and Leaving, Waiting on You, and Back to the Shack.  We learned early this year that a new Weezer record is on the way and we got to hear Back to the Shack twice on the Weezer Cruise II.

So here is the master list from Karl et al. on Weezerpedia!
I will soon publish my Google Doc Spreadsheet, which will document my progress.
Here is my Spotify playlist.

PLW Rater!  It's not quite Leonard Maltin, but it will work.
1 - Go get a beer...It's still a Weezer song, but it's a good time to rent a beer
2 - Head Bobber...The song causes at least moderate movement
3 - Rock it out...Banging of the head and the arm is in the air \m/
4 - Undone...No choice but to jump around
