The Paul Loves Weezer Project - Song 23 King

Weezer's Spring Tour is on hold until the end of May.  Check the front page of Weezerpedia.com and Weezertix.com for the details.

Here is the Vyclone video of Say it Ain't So from The Fillmore in Charlotte!

If you have the opportunity to do this, you should definitely participate!

For the twenty-third Weezer Song of the Day, I chose King, which is from the Deluxe version of the Red Album (2008.)  I chose King, because Scott personally got this song on the album and his performance of it is emotional and a=w=esome!  Apparently, King was not going to make the album and Scott insisted it was good enough, so Rivers responded that he could sing it and Scott ran with it!

I saw King performed live on the second Weezer Cruise.  According to Setlist.fm it has only been played live 19 times by Weezer.  It features Scott Shriner on lead vocals and he absolutely kills it.

King is a semi-acoustical song and the album version is quite good.  It is the live version that makes it shine, though because of Scott's intensely emotional singing style.  I saw him perform Dope Nose in MB, too.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, Scott should sing more lead vocals and Weezer should play some heavier material.

If you have passed over King because it was the last song on the album or only on the deluxe version, give this badass song a new chance!

ROCKS!

What do you guys think?

Who wants Scott to sing more?

Project Info:
So why did I create this blog?  To document my Weezer Song Project.  Over the next year, I am going to attempt to listen to every...EVERY Weezer song recorded.  All the album tracks and b-sides will be easy, but there are some unreleased songs that may or not be accessible.  Hopefully, the search (and destroy) will be fun to follow.  At the moment, the list has 214 songs!  My list includes You Gave Your Love to me Softly, Longtime SunshineTurn Me Round, Getting Up and Leaving, Waiting on You, and Back to the Shack.  We learned early this year that a new Weezer record is on the way and we got to hear Back to the Shack twice on the Weezer Cruise II.

So here is the master list from Karl et al. on Weezerpedia!
I will soon publish my Google Doc Spreadsheet, which will document my progress.
Here is my Spotify playlist.

PLW Rater!  It's not quite Leonard Maltin, but it will work.
1 - Go get a beer...It's still a Weezer song, but it's a good time to rent a beer
2 - Head Bobber...The song causes at least moderate movement
3 - Rock it out...Banging of the head and the arm is in the air \m/
4 - Undone...No choice but to jump around
